Hello,

I have an issue with MsiInstaller running frequently through out the day on our Win Server 2008 servers. Here are some example from event viewer:

Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: HP ProLiant Integrated Management Log Viewer. Product Version: 5.25.0.0. Product Language: 1033. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.

Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Veritas NetBackup 6.5.6 (6.5 Release Update 6). Product Version: 6000.0000. Product Language: 1033. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.

Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: SIA_crt_x86. Product Version: 1.0.0. Product Language: 1033. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.

I am being told Zenoss is running queries through WMI using Win32_Product. This is apprently inefficient and should be changed to use Win32reg_AddRemovePrograms. This is what our hosting provider said:

The case number above regarding MsiInstaller issue -event ID 1035 has been updated as follows:

We have investigated the event logs and it appears that the application Zenoss is possible using WMI to query the Win32_Product to identified installed software on the server and this will cause these MSI Installer issues as querying this WMI class will cause Windows to perform a consistency check of each installation on the server. As per the below KB. Please can you check investigate this with you application vendor and confirm that we can now close this case?

Has anyone else ran into these issues and figured out a resolution?
